The Direct Vision Standard and HGV Safety Permit Scheme are part of the Mayor of London's Vision Zero plan to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on London's transport network by 2041.
A vehicle’s DVS rating is measured by the direct vision a driver has from his cabin in relation to vulnerable road users. At present Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) of over 12 tonnes can operate in the Greater London area with a 1-star rating. On October 28, that rises to at least three stars. If your vehicle does not comply to the new Progressive Safe System (PSS) legislation, you will need to upgrade your DVS kit
