- Does this legislation change apply for national transport?
The smart tachograph 2 is required for all new registered vehicles.
Phase 1: all new registered vehicles (21/08/2023). Both driving national and international.
Phase 2: applicable only for international (cross-border) transport within Europe (12/2024).
Phase 3: applicable only for international (cross-border) transport within Europe (12/2025).
- Does this legislation change apply for non-EU countries?
Vehicles that drive into Europe also need to comply with the European legislation.
- What is the difference between a ADR and STD (standard) version?
An ADR tachograph has safety features to comply to the ADR regulations.
- What is the difference between the universal tachograph and the DAF Genuine tachograph?
The universal tachograph is delivered without software. Software needs to be installed during the installation of the tachograph. The DAF Genuine tachograph is already equipped with DAF specific software.
- The DSRC antenna is without wiring, will PACCAR Parts supply this wiring for installation?
For phase 2 extra wiring is required because these vehicles are not equipped with an DSRC antenna. Separate DAF specific wiring is available via PACCAR Parts.
- When does a Kitas sensor need to be changed?
If the truck has been calibrated before. A Kitas sensor can be paired once to a tachograph.
- Can DAF dealers install a Continental-VDO tachograph with Stoneridge tool?
No, a Universal tachographs from Continental need to be programmed with the Continental tablet because vehicle specific software needs to be installed.
Yes, the DAF Genuine Continental tachograph can be installed by the DAF dealer.
- Can DAF dealers calibrate a VDO tachograph with a Stoneridge tool?
Yes, for calibration, meaning that no software need to be installed anymore, both Continental and Stoneridge tablets can be used.
